Clique Kits March Blog Share

Hey everyone!

Welcome to this month's Clique Kits Pep Rally!

I've got a couple of Project Life spreads for you today.

These layouts were so quick and fun to put together, mainly because of the absolutely adorable exclusive CK journaling cards and add-on papers... Like the gorgeous french toast man above (he didn't make it onto the layouts, but thought he deserved his own honorary mention!)

The exclusive sequins matched perfectly with the cards so I decided to make my first ever shaker pocket. I don't own a fuse tool, so I just used my sewing machine to stitch a running stitch along the top of the pocket and it worked perfectly!

I also used my sewing machine to add borders to a couple of the cards, I don't like to over-embellish with my Project Life so I find that stitching adds the perfect amount of interest for me.

If you take part in this Month's blog share, you could win this kit... And trust me, you really need this kit in your life!

So comment and share away, and check out everyone's awesome work below.

Let Love Do

"Let the beauty we love be what we do"
                                                                             - Rumi

So much of my life has been about having "a plan". For me, this plan has comprised mainly in education. I've been doing tests, writing essays, getting good grades, each year levelling up into different stages of higher education, etc etc... This path is one well travelled; it's been the one that's "expected" of me.

Now, I'm not saying I was forced down this road or anything like that. I'm a massive Ravenclaw and have always loved soaking up any kind of knowledge and learning, so for me I always felt like I was destined to be in education.

But herein lies the trouble... Maybe I wasn't destined for any such path like I thought? What if I had been braver in seeking less traditional forms of learning, rather than relying on my trusty books and ability to write essays? Maybe my future wouldn't seem so daunting?

This Rumi quote has been playing quite a bit on my mind recently. Scrapbooking is really one of the first artistic outlets that has made me want to (cue the Breakfast Club reference) repeatedly punch my fist in the air, whilst walking across a football field with Simple Minds playing in the background.

I never feel as successful as much as I do when I'm being creative, whether I've been paid for it or not.

Creating, using my hands and not having enough time in the day to carry out all of my ideas is such a wonderful feeling. It brings me so much more joy than any paycheck or a First in an essay.

So this Rumi quote serves as a gentle little reminder to myself that loving whatever I do is so important, beautiful and special to me, and there is so much value in that.

Courage, Dear Heart

Stitching, mixed media and layering all in one layout... If this layout was a Friends episode, I think I would be called: 'The one where Elsie goes cray'!

Anything Goes | Clique Kits March Challenge

Hey everyone!

This month I am one of the Guest Designers for Clique Kits, so you'll see me pop up now and again with some layouts using the kit. This months challenge is Anything Goes, there are no limits to what you create, and you could be in with a chance to win a prize!

If you follow this link through to the Clique Kits blog you'll find all the rules, details on how to enter and other layouts created by the design team and guest designers!

This is the layout I've created for the challenge:

There are two sketches available for you to take inspiration from for this month, and rather excitingly, one of them is based on my layout Off We Go - eeek!

Check out the Clique Kits blog, and good luck!

Memory | DIY Doodle Flowers

I may have gone a little overboard on the navy front on this layout, but we're just going with it!

We unfortunately didn't have a kit this month with Like For Ever, because of all the delays that are happening with the American Crafts warehouse move... Luckily, the amazing Nicola was able to source an "opt-in" kit for some Cocoa Vanilla Studio goodies from their new 'Free Spirit' collection. I chose to get the patterned paper because I saw navy and flowers so immediately clicked 'buy'!

I love the navy paper, with the tiny flowers, and wanted to make that the feature. I also used the white dotty navy paper and some navy cardstock to act as a border.

I knew I wanted some larger flowers to embellish the page, but didn't have any that matched in my stash, so I made my own! I used a fine point sharpie to draw these, they're very "doodle-y" but I'm really pleased with how they look. I also used my Felicity Jane Savannah stamp with some black ink to add a few leaves into the mix.

I backed some of the flowers with some tangly gold thread and dotted a few gold sequins to add some more sparkle.

To contrast with that I used a Heidi Swapp wood veneer piece as my title and some tiny wooden hearts from my stash.

Super speedy layout, but it's sometimes nice to use a whole chunk of paper you love, to really showcase it.

Hell Yeah! | Clique Kit | March 2016

I'm a Guest Designer!
... Say whaaaaaaaat?!

I was so stoked to be asked to be one of the Guest Designers for Clique Kits this month. I seriously love this kit, especially now I have my paws on it. It has some amazing papers from the Studio Calico 'Goldie' Collection, add-on papers from Photoplay paper (a brand I had never heard of, but oh wow they're great!) and Clique Kit exclusive die-cuts, papers, journalling cards and cut-aparts designed by Inna Moreva.

I made an unboxing video of all the goodies here. So if you fancy giving that a watch, sit back with a cuppa and enjoy a more detailed look at the kit. I also purchased some of the add-ons and extra goodies from the Clique Store. Also I had a couple of disastrously awkward Postman stories which I explain - the perils of scrapbooking!
